Michelle Zhang Selected as AHS Valedictorian for 2012

Arcadia High School is pleased to announce that Michelle Yu Zhang is Valedictorian for the Class of 2012. Michelle was selected by the school’s Valedictorian Selection Committee from this year’s group of 37 Salutatorians, all of whom have cumulative grade point averages of at least 3.95.

During her four years at Arcadia High School, Michelle has earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average while taking a very rigorous schedule of classes, including thirty semesters of honors and Advanced Placement level courses in mathematics, science, English, history, and world languages.
Michelle is an Editor for the Apache Pow Wow student newspaper and currently serves as President of both the Art Club and Destination Imagination. Michelle’s artistic talents have led her to twice having her works displayed at the Pasadena Chalk Festival. She was also honored with a first place award in the Chinese American Museum’s National Art Competition.
Outside of AHS, Michelle has served as an laboratory research assistant at CalTech and has served as a volunteer and Student Volunteer Chairman at the LA County Arboretum.
Michelle attended Holly Avenue Elementary School and Dana Middle School. Next year, Michelle will attend UC Berkeley where she plans to pursue a major in Molecular Biology.
Michelle is scheduled to deliver the Valedictory Address at Arcadia High School’s Fifty Eighth Annual Commencement ceremony on Friday, June 15th.
