‘CRITICAL SHORTAGE’ of O Negative Blood at Huntington
Huntington Hospital experiencing a critical shortage of O-NEGATIVE BLOOD. If you are able to assist call to make an appointment: at (626) 397-5422 or simply walk in a donate.
The Blood Donor Center at Huntington Hospital provides comprehensive whole blood and pheresis donation services, as well as therapeutic phlebotomy services and outpatient transfusions. Blood components collected at this facility are used by patients at Huntington Hospital. As a non-profit hospital and the only trauma unit in the entire San Gabriel valley, we are responsible for providing medical care to a community that consists of two million people. In addition to our large service area, we have the only level 2 neonatal intensive care unit in the area.
Much of the medical care provided depends on a steady supply of voluntary blood donations, and yet only 3 percent of the eligible donors in California give blood. The unfortunate result is chronically low blood supplies. This shortage affects the Trauma Center and the hospital’s ability to help those in need of blood products.
