ARCADIA POLICE BLOTTER
For the period of Sunday, March 4th, through Saturday, March 10th, the Police Department responded to 924 calls for service of which 124 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, March 4:
Around 8:48 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a fraud report. The victim explained he was reviewing his Kohl’s credit card statement and discovered fraudulent charges. He had the credit card in possession at the time of the report and did not give anyone permission to use his account. He is desirous of prosecution.
At approximately 6:18 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Hollister at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in reference to a male juvenile detained for theft. The suspect concealed a bottle of cologne inside a used shopping bag and exited the store without making payment. The 16-year-old Hispanic male was cited for Petty Theft and released to his parent.
Monday, March 5:
At about 10:10 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Foothills Middle School, 171 East Sycamore Avenue, in regards to a male student being detained for possession of marijuana and an alcoholic beverage. An investigation revealed the student concealed the items in his backpack for use after school. The 13-year-old Hispanic male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Shortly after 8:40 p.m., officers responded to the Great Steak and Potato Company at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in reference to a theft that had just occurred. Officers located and detained the suspect in the JCPenney parking lot. An investigation revealed the suspect requested change from cashiers at different eateries and asked them to count out the money, at which time the suspect took the money from their hands and fled. The 62-year-old Hispanic male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Tuesday, March 6:
At about 4:08 p.m., officers responded to BJ’s, 400 East Huntington Drive, regarding an injury traffic collision into a building. An employee parked her vehicle in a space closest to the south wall of the restaurant, and leaned over to the passenger side of the vehicle without putting it in park. As the vehicle began to move forward, she attempted to place her foot on the brake but hit the gas instead, causing the vehicle to drive up the curb and into the building. When she got out of the car, she fainted and hit her face on the ground. The subject was transported to the Arcadia Methodist Hospital for medical assistance.
At approximately 4:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Greenfield Avenue in regards to a male adult suspect who had barricaded himself inside his residence with a gun after fighting with his girlfriend. Officers located the suspect in his backyard and detained him in front of the residence. An investigation revealed the 51-year-old White male hit his girlfriend in the face with a screwdriver. The victim and suspect were transported to the Arcadia Methodist Hospital for medical treatment and after clearance, the suspect was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Wednesday, March 7:
Around 2:39 p.m., an officer responded to Foothills Middle School, 171 East Sycamore Avenue, in reference to a child abuse investigation. A student reported to the school counselor that the bruise on his face was a result of his father striking him for playing computer games rather than completing his homework. After investigation, the 37-year-old Chinese male was arrested for Child Abuse and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. An emergency protective order was issued and a Department of Child and Family Services agent was assigned to the case.
At approximately 9:22 p.m., an officer responded to the 000 block of Sharon Road regarding a residential burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry through the front door, ransacked the bedrooms, and fled undetected. Wallets, checks, and jewelry were reported missing. No one saw or heard anything suspicious.
Thursday, March 8:
Shortly after 12:21 p.m., an officer responded to the 000 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding an auto burglary report. The victim returned to his vehicle and discovered unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle by an unknown means and tampered with the ignition. Articles of clothing and other items were reported missing.
At about 3:45 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter in regards to a theft report. The victim found a vehicle she wanted to purchase on Craigslist and contacted the seller. The seller directed the victim to wire money via Western Union and explained she would ship the vehicle once the $1,950 payment was received. The victim completed the wire transfer but never received the vehicle. She is desirous of prosecution.
Friday, March 9:
Around 0:37 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a white Dodge Intrepid for a broken license plate lamp, on southbound Santa Anita Avenue at the 210 freeway. A records check revealed the rear passenger, a 31-year-old Hispanic female, had an outstanding felony warrant. She was arrested for the warrant and possession of a controlled substance, which was located on her person during the booking process.
Between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., unknown suspect(s) stole a bicycle from a bike rack near JCPenney at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue. The victim has no idea who stole his bicycle and is desirous of prosecution. No one saw or heard anything suspicious.
Saturday, March 10:
At roughly 9:59 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 000 block of West Huntington Drive in regards to a residential burglary report at an apartment complex. The apartment manager discovered unknown suspect(s) broke into the laundry room and stole hundreds of dollars worth of quarters from two laundry machines. The officer determined the suspect(s) pried open the coin mechanism and fled undetected.
Shortly after 5:50 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a grey Chevrolet Corvette for making an illegal lane change on Colorado Boulevard at Colorado Place. Upon contact with the driver, the officer noticed an odor of alcohol emitting from inside the vehicle. An investigation revealed the 49-year-old White male was driving under the influence. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

During the week of Sunday, March 4th, to Saturday March 10th, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 233 calls for service. See crimereports.com for updated information.
Sunday, March 4th:
4:46 PM- Disorderly Conduct/Drunk in Public, 600 blk. Chaparral.An intoxicated 56-year old man was asked to leave a residence by the resident. The subject left the residence and was arrested for public intoxication outside the residence. The subject was transported to Pasadena jail for booking.
Monday, March 5th:
2:48 PM- Grand Theft Exceeding 950 Dollars, 600 blk. Chaparral Rd. Unknown suspect(s) entered the location through an open garage door and stole a 21 speed Trek 21 white and black mountain bicycle. The suspect(s) fled in an unknown direction.
3:40 PM- DUI Alcohol/Drugs, Lima St. and Highland Ave. An officer stopped a Sierra Madre motorist for a Vehicle Code violation. Further investigation revealed that the 80-year old driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was transported to Pasadena Police Department Jail for booking.
Friday, March 9th:
12:19 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the cashing of a personal check, without the owner’s permission.
2:26 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit card.
Saturday, March 10th:
2:59 PM- DUI Alcohol/Drugs, Sycamore Pl. and Grandview Ave. An officer stopped a 44-year old Monrovia motorist for a Vehicle Code violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to Pasadena Police Department Jail for booking.
10:43 AM- Suspicious Circumstances, 500 blk. Woodland Dr. This case involves a piece of charred wood that was thrown onto the concrete porch of a residence. The suspect(s) fled in an unknown direction.
8:47 PM- Petty Theft, 100 blk. W, Sierra Madre Blvd. Unknown suspects entered a liquor store and stole a 750 ml bottle of Belvedere vodka and a 20 oz. bottle of Coca Cola. The store clerk gave chase, which cause one ofthe suspect to drop the bottle of vodka. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction.
