SoCal Hospitality Workers Union Backs Chris Holden’s Assembly Bid
UNITE HERE Local 11, the union representing hotel and restaurant workers throughout Southern California, has endorsed Chris Holden for the State Assembly’s 41st district seat, the Holden campaign said today.
“We’re supporting Chris Holden because he understands the need to create and protect jobs that allow people to provide for their families and contribute to their communities,” said Tom Walsh, president of UNITE HERE Local 11. “As a local leader, he’s taken real action to help working families throughout the region.”
“I believe our state can do more to create jobs and revive our economy, and I am very pleased that UNITE HERE Local 11 is supporting my campaign to get California working again,” said Chris Holden.
As a city councilmember and former Mayor of Pasadena, Holden led the fight to create the city’s first living wage ordinance, and fought for the Gold Line that is creating jobs in the region. He also created the task force that led to the creation of Paseo Colorado and reconnected the historic civic center and new convention center, a key project in the revitalization of downtown Pasadena.
