Hit-and-Run Driver Tapia Gonzales will be Sentenced Friday
Tapia-Gonzalez faces four and a half years in prison for the crime
Emma Tapia-Gonzalez, 23, pleaded no contest in late January to a felony count of hit-and-run, a misdemeanor count of driving without a license and an infraction count of driving without insurance. She was released on her own recognizance pending sentencing after entering the no contest pleas Jan. 31.
Tapia-Gonzalez could face four and a half years in prison for the crime.
12 year old Bernice De La Torre who remains in hospital with critical injuries but is slowly improving . Bernice is now responding to some people she sees but there is a long road ahead with therapy for the severity of her injuries.
Tapia-Gonzalez fled the scene following the crash, but was arrested later in the evening at a Duarte business where her boyfriend worked.
