Adam Schiff Invites Community to Discuss Windstorm and Emergency Preparedness in General
Rep. Adam B. Schiff sent out the following to local constituants.
“The devastating windstorms that swept through our area on November 30 and December 1 caused millions of dollars of damage across the region. They also knocked out power for 340,000 households and businesses in the area. Some of those impacted waited almost a week for power to be restored.
I believe it’s important we take the lessons from this event and apply them to future disasters, whether it’s a storm or an earthquake or something else entirely. That’s why I decided to convene a roundtable discussion, bringing together elected officials, representatives from local power companies, and government agencies in charge of emergency response. I hope to use this event to spur discussion of how we can be better prepared in the future and improve the response times in the event of a major power outage or other natural disaster.
I hope you can join me on January 12th to discuss the response to the windstorms, funding options for repairs, and how we can improve our emergency preparedness. The panel and discussion will run from 9am until 11:30am at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on 125 S. Grand Ave in Pasadena. I hope to see you there.
