Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the shooting death of Jose Parra.
On Monday, December 12, 2011, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Jose Parra was shot and killed inside his residence in the unincorporated area of Arcadia in the San Gabriel Valley.
It has been reported that the suspect was lying in wait when the victim and his family arrived home. As the family entered the garage of the residence, the man approached the family, pointed a hand gun at them and demanded money. After the victims gave the gunman the only money they had in their possession, the gunman demanded entry into the residence to obtain more money.
Once inside the residence, the gunman directed the victim’s wife and their three children, ages 3, 5 and 6, into a bedroom with instructions to shut the door and not exit the room. The gunman then gave Jose Parra more commands for cash and, shortly thereafter, shot him several times before fleeing from the scene.
The suspect is described as male Hispanic, light complexion, 5’7″, 150 lbs., thin build, black hair, brown eyes, wearing dark clothing, a black hoodie sweatshirt and a band aid under his eye.
The Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is seeking assistance from the public with information that may aid in their investigation of this crime. Supervisor Antonovich asks anyone with information to contact Detectives B. Schoonmaker or T. O’Quinn at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
