Dog Haus Biergarten brings the “best of the würst” to Old Pasadena
There’s a new top dog in town and after one visit to Old Pasadena’s Dog Haus Biergarten, you will understand why. Located at 93 East Green Street, Dog Haus Biergarten is the newest incarnation of the popular Dog Haus restaurant that opened last year on Hill Street. The varied and creative selection of gourmet hot dogs, hamburgers and sausages are the same, as are the lines of people eagerly waiting to order. And it is well worth the wait. Dog Haus Biergarten has something for everyone including an extensive selection of beers, wine and classic cocktails. The hearty hot dogs are a thick quarter pound each and served on sweet King’s Hawaiian Bread. Choices range from the Sooo Cali, smothered in fresh greens, diced tomatoes, avocado and crispy fried onions and dressed with a spicy basil aioli to the Grand Slam which is nestled beneath crisp bacon, tater tots and a fried egg.If it’s a burger you want, and size matters, Dog Haus has that covered too with everything from sliders to the Big Erin McCracken which is two beef patties and a split hot dog with melted cheddar cheese and mayo and served on Hawaiian bread. More adventurous eaters might want to try the Reuben’s Cube, a burger topped with hot pastrami, Swiss cheese, 1,000 island dressing and sauerkraut which brings a new twist to a delicatessen classic. Instead of the tang of rye bread, the sweet King’s Hawaiian rolls used as a bun allow the savory and sour tastes of the Reuben ingredients to shine. From the food and drinks to the friendly service, custom fabricated communal tables, ketchup-colored walls, ‘80’s music and one of the largest outdoor patios in the area, Dog Haus Biergarten is the hip new place to be in Old Pasadena. Dog Haus Biergarten definitely gives value for a diner’s money. Just like your mother told you when you were a kid, it’s well worth it to get out of the haus and enjoy the garten.
