Flora Abrahamian, M.D Joins Huntington Medical Foundation

Huntington Medical Foundation announced that Flora Abrahamian, M.D., a highly trained specialist in allergy and immunology, will be joining its medical staff October 1. She will be located at the HMF office in Pasadena.
Dr. Abrahamian received her medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine after attaining her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in biochemistry from Occidental College. She did her fellowship in allergy and immunology at the University of California, Irvine and her residency in internal medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Prior to joining Huntington Medical Foundation, Dr. Abrahamian was an associate physician in the department of allergy and clinical immunology for Kaiser Permanente in Downey. There she treated both adults and children for common disorders such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, eczema and food allergies. She also diagnosed and treated more complex conditions like hereditary angioedema (a rare but serious problem with the immune system) and common variable immunodeficiency (a disorder of the immune system).
“There are many misconceptions about allergies, and I love answering patients’ questions and easing their concerns,” she says. “I believe it is very important to educate patients about prevention measures.”
An allergy is a specific reaction to a normally harmless substance such as pollens, dust particles, mold, food, latex rubber, insect venom or medicines. Dr. Abrahamian provides her patients advice on ways to avoid the allergen, prescribes medications that relieve symptoms, and suggests strategies that usually provide varying degrees of relief from allergy symptoms.
Dr. Abrahamian is a member of the American Medical Association; the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. She is also a member of the Armenian American Medical Society of California; the Christian Medical & Dental Association; and the Los Angeles Society of Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology.
Dr. Abrahamian’s office is located at 55 East California Blvd., Suite 204, in Pasadena. There she joins a team of more than 70 healthcare professionals including two other recent additions to the Huntington Medical Foundation medical staff: Endocrinologist Jennifer Chang, M.D., and Dermatologist Goli Compoginis, M.D. Appointments may be made by calling 626-397-8323.
