Santa Anita’s main track, which has been closed due to a renovation project since July 11, is tentatively scheduled to reopen for training on July 26. Training will be restricted to gallopers and joggers on July 26 and 27, and is scheduled to be available for timed workouts on Thursday, July 28.
Santa Anita, in conjunction with the California Thoroughbred Trainers (CTT) and the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) is in the process of completely remediating the main track, adjusting imbalances in soils which were installed in advance of heavy rains this past December.
Santa Anita, which hosted back-to-back Breeders’ Cup World Championship events in 2008 and 2009, is among three finalists to once again play host to the Breeders’ Cup in 2012.
Santa Anita is currently readying for its 2011 Autumn Meeting, which will open in late September. For more information on Santa Anita’s main track and the upcoming Autumn Meet, fans are encouraged to visit www.santaanita.com, or to call (626) 574-RACE.
