

At approximately 2:30 A.M., officers of the Alhambra Police Department were investigating a possible robbery in the rear parking lot of 100 North First Street, when responding police units collided into each other at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Main Street. The injured officers were treated at the scene by Alhambra Fire Department paramedics and transported to a local hospital for further medical examination.
Officer Ryan Stringer, 26 years old, died as a result of his injuries. The other officer is listed in stable condition. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision and results are not available at this time.
Funeral arrangements are in progress and details concerning the service will follow when developed.
