Arcadia Blotter June12 – June18

For the period of Sunday, June 12, through Saturday, June 18, the Police Department responded to 955 calls for service of which 108 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, June 12:

1. At approximately 2:45 a.m., while patrolling the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive an officer observed a vehicle pull into the parking lot of the Denny’s restaurant located on East Huntington Drive. The driver, a 38-year-old Hispanic female, jumped out of the vehicle and proceeded to urinate in public. Contact was made with the driver who was found to be intoxicated and unable to operate her vehicle safely on the roadway. The female was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and urinating in public.

2. At about 10:30 a.m., a 58-year-old Hispanic male along with his 9-year-old daughter arrive at the Arcadia Police department lobby and report that his wife, a 45-year-old Hispanic female had threatened to stab him with a knife after an argument. Officers responded to the 200 block of Joyce Avenue where an investigation revealed that the female had broken numerous items in her home and in anger had picked up a knife and threatened her husband. She was placed under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon.

 

Monday, June 13:

3. Shortly after 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Alex Di Peppe’s restaurant located at 140 Las Tunas Drive regarding a welfare check. The officers had been advised by dispatch that a male subject was staggering and seemed disoriented while walking from the restaurant west on Las Tunas drive. Contact was made with the 51-year-old White male who was found to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest for being drunk in public.

4. At about 9:45 p.m., units were dispatched to the 5700 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding a suicidal subject who was holding a knife. Shortly before arrival, the subject’s caretaker was able to convince the 56-year-old White male to put down the knife. The subject was found to be a danger to himself and was transported to the Arcadia Methodist hospital for a 72-hour Psychiatric evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, June 14:

5. At about 10:30 a.m., officers responded to the Arcadia Police department lobby regarding a fraud report. Upon arrival, officers contacted a 40-year-old female of unknown race who reported she had received a call from US Bank informing her of several checks that had been recently drawn on her bank account. Further investigation revealed that an unknown suspect(s) had either altered or recreated three checks from the victim’s account and had successfully cashed two of the three for an approximate loss of $1860.00. A follow-up investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

6. Between 10:00 a.m. on June 13th and 11:45 a.m. on June 14th, a residential burglary occurred in the 500 block of Santa Rosa Road. Unknown suspect(s) pried the northeast corner window screen damaging it. No property was reported missing.

Wednesday, June 15:

7. Between 7:40 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 00 block of West Floral Avenue. Unknown suspect(s) entered the location by shattering a window on the rear door. Once inside, the suspect(s) ransacked the home and stole an IPod and jewelry for an approximate loss of $700.00.

8. About 6:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a deceased person. Upon arrival, officers found an 89-year-old female of Unknown race in her bed and not breathing. Her care taker had been the one to call for medical assistance when she realized the female was not moving or breathing. There were no signs of foul play and it appeared she passed away from natural causes.

 

 

Thursday, June 16:

9. Shortly after 2:15 p.m., officers responded to the Arcadia Police department lobby regarding a theft report. The victim, a 27-year-old Asian male, reported that he had gone to the First Avenue Middle School located at 301 South First Avenue to play basketball. He further stated that he had set down his keys and cell phone on the ground below the basketball net. Approximately 2 hours later he noticed the car keys were missing. He was able to open his vehicle using a spare key and then noticed his wallet was missing. Shortly after, he was told by his bank that two purchases had been made in that hour at Nordstrom’s and Macy’s totaling approximately $1100.00. A follow-up investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

10. Shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of Colorado Boulevard and Santa Anita Avenue and conducted a subject check. A records check of one of the subjects revealed an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The 23-year-old Hispanic male was placed under arrest for the warrant.

Friday, June 17:

11. At about 9:50 a.m., while on patrol in the 900 block of West Huntington Drive, an officer received an alert in his unit from the Automatic License Plate Reader System (ALPRS) informing him that a vehicle, a tan Ford F150, had an outstanding warrant. The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, a 33-year-old Hispanic male. A records check of the subject revealed an outstanding no bail felony warrant for burglary and an additional misdemeanor warrant in the amount of $30,000.00. The driver was placed under arrest for the warrants.

12. Between 9:00 a.m. on June 10th and 2:40 p.m. on June 17th, a residential burglary occurred in the 1500 block of Azure Way. Unknown suspect(s) attempted to pry open the rear sliding glass door and then entered the house through a bathroom window. The suspect(s) ransacked the house and stole checkbooks.

Saturday, June 18:

13. Shortly before 12:00 a.m., while on patrol in the area of Sixth Avenue and Camino Real Avenue, an officer received an alert in his unit from the Automatic License Plate Reader System (ALPRS) informing him that a vehicle, a gray Chevrolet Tahoe, had an outstanding warrant. The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, a 30-year-old White male, who was found to be driving without a valid driver’s license. Further investigation revealed burglary tools in the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest for possession of burglary tools and driving without a license.

 

 

14. At approximately 11:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Winthorp Avenue regarding a suspicious occupied vehicle. Upon arrival, officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old Asian male, who began vomiting when the officers arrived. The subject was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for disorderly conduct and being drunk in public. The 20-year-old Asian female passenger was also intoxicated an appeared to need medical attention. She was transported to the Arcadia Methodist hospital for a medical evaluation and possible treatment.
