A benefit concert will be held Saturday, May 21, at the Levitt Pavilion in Pasadena to support the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan.
Pasadena Sister Cities Committee, an all-volunteer organization, is promoting the benefit on behalf of its sister city, Mishima.
The music festival, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., will include chorale groups, jazz, rock, heavy metal and other music by local bands and musicians from Pasadena City College and public and private schools. Taiko drummers, martial arts exhibitions, lion and dragon dancers will also be featured. Food trucks will be available.
Levitt Pavilion is located at Memorial Park on the corner of Raymond Avenue and Walnut Street. The venue is an easy walk from Memorial Park Metro Gold Line Station. Suggested donation is $10, with children under 5 years of age admitted free.
Larger donations also are being accepted, with checks payable to Pasadena Sister Cities Committee and noting “Japan Relief-Donation” on the memo line. Concert sponsorships are available to help defray costs.
