Cub Scout Pack 113 visited Beacon’s headquarters in Monrovia Wednesday evening to learn how a local community newspaper is put together and printed each week. The curious 6-9 year olds who attend Hugo Reid School, which included one Bear and six Cubs watched eagerly as Production Manager Stephanie Lopez showed them how a page was composed on the computer.
Photo editor Terry Miller then took a photograph of the cub reporters as they watched Ms. Lopez work on the Thursday edition. Miller then sent the digital picture to Ms, Lopez’ desk who in turn placed the image on the page and the text was added documenting the visit. The cub reporters’ photo and story appears in Thursday’s Arcadia Weekly and all Beacon Media publications. Thank you to Michael Powers, T.J. Perez, Charlie Walker, Bryce Wong, Matthew Covey, Mark Sandy, Will Covey, and Kerra Sandey for brightening up an otherwise dreary production day at BMI.
