Assemblymember Anthony Portantino (D-La Cañada Flintridge) went to Kevin Fox’s Gov. Class at Arcadia High School on Friday morning to present the Arcadia High School Constitution team with Certificates of Recognition for their national title. Team member Madyson Cassidy, pictured above, told Portantino she was going to be the first woman President of the United States.

Earlier this year, Assemblymember Portantino visited the team during practice session and offered an overview of the legislative process and some advice on debate skills.

Coach Gary Kovacic was also honored for his service to the team. More than 1,000 students from across the United States competed in this competition which tested students’ knowledge of constitutional history. The 30 Arcadia High students were named champions at a recent ceremony in Washington DC.
