Tuesday, April 20 is “Massage for the Kids” and Massage Envy Spa of Glendale hopes to be booked to capacity. For one day only, owners, Helen McDonagh and Andrew Garsten will donate $20 — approximately one-third of every paid one hour massage or facial to be donated to support Glendale Healthy Kids.

For those inclined to give massage as a gift, they are also donating 100 half-hour gift cards, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity. It’s not often that one can purchase a gift card that actually goes to support a great cause. These gift cards are twice the gift: relaxation for a loved one, and compassionate assistance for a child in need. Massage For The Kids Day is a day where the gift you give really does keep on giving.

To ensure an appointment for a massage or facial on Massage For The Kids Day reservations must made in advance – prior to April 20. All are welcome, and for those who’ve never received a massage or facial, doing something nice for someone else is a wonderful incentive for self-care.

Co-owner Helen McDonagh hopes to inspire her fellow Angelenos to get involved,
“Our goal is to raise $5000 or more for Glendale Healthy Kids. All children deserve quality medical care, regular check-ups, and dental care regardless of their parents’ income levels. In today’s economy, this is an increasingly difficult challenge, and we want to help.”

Glendale Healthy Kids was formed in 1993, when research by Glendale Memorial Hospital Foundation showed that children of the working poor weren’t receiving the medical care that they needed, and were, in fact, getting their primary care solely from school nurses and already crowded emergency rooms. These children were unable to get dental care, or any preventative care. Seeking solutions, Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center, Verdugo Hills Hospital, Glendale Adventist Medical Center, Glendale Unified School District, and the City of Glendale created Glendale Healthy Kids.

All would-be participants are encouraged to book their appointments early by calling 818.246.ENVY (3689) or by stopping by Massage Envy Spa – Glendale, 333 North Brand Boulevard, Glendale, 91203. Appointments begin at 8 a.m. with the last appointment at 9 p.m. Donations can also be made at GlendaleHealthyKids.org.
