

The most important issues affecting youth and families in the Duarte community will be the focus of a Town Hall meeting Wednesday, March 3, hosted by the Duarte Youth and Family Master Plan community outreach task group. The community is invited to share ideas and comments on issues such as recreation, mental health services, public safety and other topics at the meeting to be held at 7 p.m. at the Duarte Senior Center, 1610 Huntington Dr. Child care will be available.
A volunteer 27-member Advisory Committee to the Duarte City Council is working to develop a measurable action plan that will guide the City of Duarte, the Duarte Unified School District, community organizations, and others over the next five to ten years regarding youth and family programs, services, and facilities. The committee is comprised of a cross-section of the community including parents, teens, educators, child development professionals and others.
Plans are to present a completed action plan to the Duarte City Council by July 2010. It will include action steps, benchmarks and timetables for meeting the goals of the plan.
