Elderly Couple Robbed in Driveway
On Wednesday, November 25, an elderly couple was robbed in their driveway at approximately 7:30 p.m. at their residence in the 300 block of West Duarte Road.
The suspects were described as two males in their teens, both with medium builds and dark clothing.
According to police reports, the suspects approached the victims as they were unloading groceries from their vehicle in the driveway.
“The elderly female was inside the house when she heard her husband yell for help,” the report says. “Suspect #1 punched the elderly male numerous times in the face, held him on the ground and took his wallet, containing $1,200.”
When the female came out of the house, the second suspect pushed her to the ground and took her wedding ring and watch.
“One of the suspects put packing tape on the elderly female’s mouth while both suspects attempted to use zip-ties around the couple’s wrists,” police report. “Unable to get the zip-ties on the victims, the suspects fled on foot.”
The victim’s injuries were minor with cuts to the males face and the female’s elbow.
