Approximately 1700 children are better prepared for the new school year thanks to the work of volunteers at Foothill Unity Center’s biggest event of the year. The yearly event held at Santa Anita Race track helps thousands of needy families with young children who are facing financial hard times.
Donations from area businesses and corporations help the staff at Foothill Unity continue a long standing tradition of starting the school year off right. Not only do the children get backpacks, clothes and underwear ( all new) but they also get books and a new look courtesy of Citrus College Cosmetology students who volunteer to cut hair and manicure little hands.
