Long Beach motorcyclist killed in crash on 91 in Cerritos identified

A motorcyclist killed in a crash on the Artesia (91) Freeway in Cerritos has been identified.

37-year-old Long Beach resident Anthony Boyd Jr. died in the early Sunday morning crash, according to the coroner’s office..

The crash was reported about 2:35 a.m. Sunday on the westbound Artesia Freeway, west of Shoemaker Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol Officer K. Beavers.

Witnesses told the CHP the motorcyclist now identified as Boyd was driving his 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 westbound in the fast lane at more than 80 mph when he veered to the right and rear-ended a 2013 Ford driven in the No. 2 lane at about 50 mph by an Arcadia man, Beavers said.

Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene.
